Perinatal Infant Community Health Collaboratives (PICHC)

The goal of the Perinatal and Infant Community Health Collaboratives (PICHC) initiative is to support community-based efforts to improve overall health and well-being of birthing people and their families and improve health outcomes.

Healthy women during and after pregnancies is our vision for all women.  The PICHC program works together with communities to reduce racial, ethnic, and economic disparities in health outcomes and address the factors that affect racial and ethnic disparities. PICHC programs use a reproductive justice framework, which means ensuring that every person understands their right to make decisions about their own bodies, including whether they want to have children or not, and have access to and the ability for parenting children in safe and healthy communities.  Our program is funded by NYS DOH PICHC!

According to the CDC full term pregnancy lasts from 39 to 41 week. Babies born before that (37 to 39 weeks) are “pre-term.” Babies born sooner than 37 weeks are considered very pre-term, and may need to stay in the hospital after birth. Learn the risk factors for preterm birth and prevention.

PICHC Community Health Worker

Work with a Community Health Worker to improve specific perinatal and infant health outcomes including preterm birth, low birth weight, infant mortality, and maternal mortality.
