The Maternal Infant Services Network’s (MISN) Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) Youth Program is aimed at providing tools and resources that enable youth build healthy relationships, giving them a sense of purpose and molding them to be impactful adults.
Our FREE evidenced-based programs (which mean they have been thoroughly tested and proven to reduce the risk factors associated with teen pregnancies) focus on sexual health education, community service learning, career development, leadership skills, promoting positive youth development, financial literacy, offering referrals to healthcare services & championing social & racial justice.
Our programs are facilitated by certified & trained health educators across Orange, Sullivan & Ulster counties to enable youth to develop to their fullest potential. We also provide several fun programs & activities that engage youth & help bridge access gaps to important local health & community resources.
A year-long program that allows teens to develop a vision for their own bright futures and hone their skills as leaders. This program lays the groundwork for healthy behaviors, community service, meaningful connections with peers and adults, practical life skills and a deep sense of purpose.
A 13-session program for youth that fosters positive life choices by helping them to envision successful futures. They will learn to set goals, learn to identify barriers, and learn how to reduce behaviors that would put them at risk for teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
A game-like assessment – played either via physical cards or online – to help youth understand and talk about finances in a fun, constructive way. It also allows youth to pinpoint underlying financial habits, attitudes and motivations to make real behavior changes.
An 8-hour curriculum, evidence-based safer sex approach to teen pregnancy and HIV/STI prevention, and reduced risk of contraction. MPC is designed to give adolescents the tools needed to increase their confidence, have a stronger sense of responsibility and pride, and have more positive attitudes about abstinence, safe sex, HIV, & STIs.
Cultivating, Health, Acceptance, Opportunity and Soul (CHAOS) builds rapport with the youth in the community and community resources to educate them on various aspects of their health. We aspire to equip them with the tools to become great leaders and self-advocates through community engagement, personal and professional development.
